Fellows and Fellowships

CIRES Research & Education Fellowship
The CIRES Research/Education Fellowship was initiated by CIRES Director Dr. Susan Avery in 1999. The REF expands CIRES' commitment to diversity in the science workforce, by creating and sustaining long-term partnerships with institutions in diverse communities. This fellowship provides a unique opportunity for a science faculty member to simultaneously enhance his/her research and to develop educational expertise. Of special interest to CIRES is the impact this Fellowship may have in enhancing science education and research opportunities among a broad and diverse group of students, and in building new partnerships with other U.S. educational institutions.

GK-12 Fellows and Fellowships
The GK-12 Fellows Program at CU-Boulder began in June 2003. GK-12 Fellows have interacted with approximately 500 students on a regular basis. Students gain insight into how scientists do science, while the fellows gain experience in teaching at the secondary science level. Students learn environmental stewardship.
