2001Kenneth Aikin, Dale Hurst, Katherine Perkins, Erik Richard, and Margaret Tolbert received a NASA Group Achievement Award for the SAGE III Ozone Loss and Validation Experiment Science Team.
Jennifer Bohlander, Laura Naranjo, Michon Scott, Laurie Schmidt, and Annette Varani of CIRES' National Snow and Ice Data Center [ About NSIDC ] received a NASA Group Achievement Award 2001 for their contributions to the NASA Earth Observatory. Jennifer Bohlander received a NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Group Award for Public Service. Steven Brown and Thomas Hamill each received a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). Phillip Chilson received AGU Editor's Citation for Excellence in Refereeing and was a recipient of the NOAA Environmental Technology Laboratory (ETL) Outstanding Seminar Award. Steven Clifford received a Meritorious Presidential Rank Award. Lee Cohen's High Performance Computing System was awarded "Best New Web Page" by the NOAA Forecast Systems Laboratory. Katherine Daniels was the recipient of a AGU Fall 2001 Meeting Outstanding Student Paper Award. Rudy Dichtl and Harold Tyus were recognized in Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
Rod Frehlich was the recipient of the Editor's Award from the Journal of Applied Meteorology at the 2001 AMS annual meeting. Terence Haran and Bradley McLean were recognized by CIRES' National Snow and Ice Data Center [ About NSIDC ] with Outstanding Employee Awards. Gary Hodges received a Certificate of Excellence from NOAA Air Resources Laboratory, Surface Radiation Research Branch. Anne Jefferson received a CIRES Members' Council Award of Excellence. |
David Longenecker received a certificate of accomplishment from the NOAA Climate Monitoring and Diagnostics Laboratory (CMDL) for sustained superior performance and initiative in the area of CMDL radiation field activities and data archival. Andrew Loughe received recognition from the National Weather Service's Aviation Weather Center (AWC) for efforts made during the successful deployment of the new Real Time Verification System for Forecast Quality, a web-based/database application that was delivered to the AWC in 2001. Sergey Matrosov received a Department of Commerce 2001 Gold Medal for a new remote sensing system to identify hazardous in-flight icing conditions in clouds. The Communications Team at CIRES National Snow and Ice Data Center [ About NSIDC ] received a Westword 2000 "Best of Denver" award for All About Glaciers (Best Web Site for Slow Modems). The NSIDC team also received an Award of Merit from the Society of Technical Communication (Rocky Mountain Chapter) for Arctic Climatology Project: Arctic Meteorology and Climate Atlas on CD-ROM. Debra Mondeel and Robert Stone received the 2001 CMDL Director's Award at the NOAA Climate Monitoring and Diagnostics Laboratory. Mondeel also received the STRATAFORM Research Program (ONR) award. Andreas Muschinsk the NOAA Environmental Technology Laboratory (ETL) Outstanding Seminar Award. Megan Northway received an Outstanding Student Paper Award at the 2001 AGU Fall Meeting for her talk titled "Constraining Polar Stratospheric Cloud Particle Sizes and Number Concentrations Required to Denitrify the 1999-2000 Arctic Vortex." Anne Nolin received a NASA Group Achievement Award for her participation on the MISR Science Team. Nolin was also selected as convenor of the Third International Workshop on Multiangular Measurements and Models. Mark Ohrenschall received the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) Staff Excellence Award. Bradley Parks was re-elected GIS/EM (Geographic Information Systems and Environmental Modeling) Secretariat. Katherine Perkins received an NRC Postdoctoral Fellowship Award. |
John Rundle was named Distinguished Visiting Scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Michon Scott, Laurie Schmidt, and Annette Varani received the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Group Award for Public Service.
Anne Jefferson and Catherine Smith each recieved the CIRES Members' Council Award of Excellence. Katherine Straub received a Student Paper Award at the 13th Conference on Atmospheric and Oceanic Fluid Dynamics. Kristy Tiampo served as Program Coordinator of the Nonlinear Geophysics Committee at the AGU (American Geophysical Union) Spring Meeting.
James Vickroy received a Certificate of Recognition for contributions to the SXI (Solar X-Ray Imager) project. William Virden was awarded Excellence in Cartography at the 20th International Cartographic Congress for the map poster "Bathymetry of Lake Ontario" 2001.
