Research Interests: Construction of data archive on ancient warfare; mathematical modeling of long-range conflict processes; development of new graphic notational system for complex political interactions.

Current Research Projects: Investigating the complexity of uncertainty, emergence, self-organization and nonlinear behavior in the origins of ancient international political systems in the Old World and New World and their long-term evolution; Collaboratory on Origins, Evolution and Complexity of Macro Social Systems.
