Research Interests: Interannual hydro-climatic variability over tropical South America; El Nino-Southern Oscillation effects on hydrological cycle; Linkages between human health and climate variability; ENSO and streamflow river forecasts for hydropower generation; Atmosphere and Surface Water balances in Colombia; Rainfall variability at different time-space scales over tropical South America; Water-Energy-Vegetation Interactions; Hurst phenomenon in geophysical records.

Current research projects: Applications of ENSO forecasts for malaria outbreaks and electricity generation in Colombia; Digital Hydro-Climatological Atlas of Colombia; Diurnal cycle of Precipitation in the tropical Andes; Interannual variability of soil moisture; Water-Energy-Vegetation Interactions.
