Project: Application of the eddy correlation technique to shallow running waters: A test of the fate of organic carbon in Colorado plains riversLindsay Chipman is working with the Department of Limnology to evaluate the use of the eddy correlation method for estimating oxygen metabolism in shallow rivers. She will then use these measurements to investigate the fate of organic matter transported by rivers. “This research will help to answer questions related to the fate and global cycling of carbon and nitrogen and contribute to our understanding of how changes in climate, human population, and land use will affect the delivery of carbon to the world’s oceans,” she says. Coming from Florida, Chipman is looking forward to Colorado’s snow and mountains. “I love skiing and hiking, and Colorado is the perfect place for both,” she says.
