Visiting Fellowship International Information
This information is for accepted Visiting Fellows who are not U.S. Citizens: International Visiting Fellows are required to attend an informational meeting at the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office. The meeting is scheduled each Tuesday, and lasts approximately one hour. Check in is at 10:00 AM. The ISSS office is located on the main CU-Boulder campus in Center for Community Building, Room 355. Please bring a photo ID and all VISA related documents.
ISSS will provide instructions on how to apply for a social security number. Do not apply for a social security number without ISSS authorization to proceed as it may seriously delay issue of the social security number. If the Visiting Fellow wishes to contact ISSS office directly please call 303/492-8057.
For J VISAS: Please note that there are mandatory minimum medical, repatriation, and evacuation insurance requirements for the J visa program. If the Visiting Fellow has questions about these requirements, please contact the CU-Boulder campus ISSS Office or visit the following CU-Boulder ISSS website link: http://www.colorado.edu/oie/j-1-health-insurance
NOTE: Visiting Fellows may be subject to U.S. tax withholding. Visiting Fellows are required to meet with a campus International Tax Specialist as soon as possible after their arrival in Boulder. This consultation should occur prior to the Visiting Fellow’s first paycheck to prevent unnecessary tax deductions.
Schedule an appointment with an International Tax Specialist through the University of Colorado's Online Appointment System.
