Approach

1. Develop high resolution (Landsat) digital compilation of land cover and human-induced, land cover change over the last 15 years
2. Make use of existing information on soils, planting statistics, irrigation, etc., to verify remote sensing derived information
3. Develop techniques to normalize radiometric calibration in TM over time
4. Develop change models with aid of GIS (pictured below).
