University Environmental Science Education
Commitment to education is an integral part of our mission at CIRES. Every year CIRES faculty and scientists supervise the research of more than 60 graduate-level students at the University of Colorado at Boulder. We provide our students with a unique opportunity to experience professional level research while they complete their degrees.

Courses Offered
CIRES faculty teach normal course loads in their academic departments in a wide range of subjects covering atmospheric and climate dynamics, cryospheric and polar processes, environmental chemistry and biology, and solid earth sciences.

Graduate Fellowships Offered
CIRES offers two different graduate education fellowships to help recruit top students to CU-Boulder's academic programs.

Graduate Certificates Available
Through CIRES' Center for Science and Technology Policy Research, a graduate student at CU-Boulder can also earn a graduate certificate in science and technology policy. These certificate programs at CU-Boulder are also available to graduate students.

CIRES Teaching/Faculty
Since 1967, CIRES Faculty have supervised the research of hundreds of students who have earned the Ph.D. degree and are now in environmental science and research positions in academia and industry, in the United States and around the world. For a sample of student research done at CIRES, see CIRES students and CIRES graduates.

University Science Partners
CIRES has many colleagues and collaborators at CU-Boulder. These partners are in numerous academic departments and programs in the College of Engineering, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Graduate School.
