Research efforts will include running EnKF (Ensemble Kalman filter) and a variational data assimilation scheme, to compare the analyses and forecasts and also to compare these analyses and forecasts with a forecast initialized with ECMWF. Student will develop a new statistical scheme combining EnKF and a given variational data assimilation for a better error covariance to be used in both techniques. |
