Ocean Interactions Scanning precipitation radar Some of you may have noticed the large ball on top of the ship. This is a scanning precipitation radar, just like the ones used on the TV nightly weather report. It measures rain at far distances (30 kilometers or more) and compensates for the ship's motion. |
