Would you like to help get the message out about climate change, but feel unsure about how to do it well?
Are you asked about climate change by friends and family?
Are you planning to teach about climate change in your courses?
This workshop will give you information and opportunities to practice communicating about climate change with students, the media, acquanintances and family. The workshop is free and open to all faculty and staff members, research scientists, outreach or cummunications professionals, and grad students.
The format is modular; stay for part or all of the workshop as your schedule dictates. The first hour will be an interactive workshop on best practices in climate change and science communications, including strategies for handling controversy in the classroom. During the second hour, participants will split into facilitated breakout groups to practice communications for a particular audience; students, the media, or acquaintances/family members.
