Northeast Front Range Math/Science Partnership

Intensive Summer Institutes in Mathematics and Science

The partnership seeks to increase the number of middle school mathematics and science teachers who are highly qualified and to increase student achievement in mathematics and science.

We offer intensive summer institutes in mathematics and science, where teachers engage in learning math or science content from teams including both university faculty and district content specialists. In the follow-up sessions, teachers continue to develop and apply math and science concepts and participate in lesson study. Through lesson study, teachers have the opportunity to reflect on what they have learned and use student work to change classroom practice. Teams of teachers and professional development partners observe and critique each other’s mathematics and science lessons, focusing on student learning, and begin to apply their new learning to classroom instruction.

The partnership is funded by the Colorado Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education.
