Northeast Front Range Math/Science Partnership
2007 Institutes

Teachers in the 2006 Earth & Space Science Institute
studied the solar system at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
The following opportunities are offered to teachers in the partner districts for 2007, thanks to an extension of the grant funding from the Colorado Department of Education.
A limited number of spaces may be available for teachers from outside the partner districts (see the application information for details).
Science
Integrating Earth and Space Science with Physical Science
This is the only institute offered for 2007, and is supported by a no-cost extension of grant funds remaining from the previous three-year grant (2004-2006).
A number of institutes in physics, chemistry, and life science are offered to teachers in the partner districts through cooperation with the Rocky Mountain Middle School Math & Science Partnership. Jeffco science teachers may participate in the institutes through the RMMS MSP directly. Other science teachers may participate but are not eligible to receive a stipend for 2007. For details, see the RMMS MSP web page.
Mathematics
Math teachers from the partner districts may participate in the summer mathematics institutes offered by the Rocky Mountain Middle School Math & Science Partnership. For 2007, math teachers in all five partner districts are eligible for a stipend; contact your district math coordinator for details.
Lesson Study
Lesson study is a component of all the summer institutes. In this professional development process, teachers systematically examine student learning in their own and colleagues' classrooms as they work collaboratively on a common "study lesson." Teachers in the institutes will work together on planning, teaching, observing, and critiquing their lessons.
