Coaches

August 2009

Dear Potential NOSB 2010 Coach:

This letter is to encourage you to participate in the 2010 Colorado Regional Ocean Sciences Bowl Mountain Mariner Challenge. On the "For Coaches" web page you will find the registration materials for the 2010 competition. In order for you to be completely registered, you must fill out the required forms and mail or fax these forms back to us. You cannot register online at the NOSB.org website.

If you are one of the first twelve coaches to submit the first page of the Team Registration Form , we will hold your place in the competition. You may submit the other forms at a later date.

Information for the 2010 Colorado NOSB competition is as follows:

  • The first twelve schools to submit their Team Registration Form will be accepted. Any schools submitting their form after the twelve slots are filled will be put on a waiting list in case one of the first twelve cancels
  • If a school would like to bring two or more teams, names of the extra teams will be kept in a list. If fewer than twelve teams are registered on February 15, a random drawing will be held among the extra teams to fill the available slots. Please submit a Team Registration Form for each additional team, indicating that they will be Team B, Team C, etc.
  • Extra teams and teams from schools still on the waiting list are welcome to attend the competition on March 6 to observe. If there are last-minute no-shows among registered teams, the slots will be filled on competition day by a random drawing among those extra teams in attendance. All extra teams attending the competition must bring all their completed forms with them in order to participate.
  • The deadline of November 15 for the Team Registration Form will be strictly enforced. Only the first page of the Team Registration Form must be submitted by November 15. Details on team member names, medical forms, and other additional forms may be submitted after that date.
  • Teams are responsible for arranging and paying for all their own travel, lodging, and any other expenses incurred.
  • There will be no funds available for travel this year.
  • Lunch will be provided on competition day. Breakfast will be on your own.
  • The format will be:
    • 6 minute buzzer round
    • 2 team challenge questions
    • 6 minute buzzer round
    • Morning Round Robin
    • Afternoon Double Elimination

We look forward to receiving your registration materials. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at susan.lynds@colorado.edu or at 303-492-1714.
