Ocean Interactions 2005 Cruise > Questions & Answers: Posted: January 21, 2005 Anna: Have you gone fishing yet? Do you get to eat the fish you catch? Hi Anna! No, the crew on the ship said that they haven't had much luck lately, so we haven't yet. I just hope we try once more before the trip is done! Misaki: Where are you now? Food is good taste? Did you seen the beautiful ocean? Did you seen the dolphin? Hi Misaki, We are traveling back and forth on about the same line (8 Km long) just N.E. of Barbuda. The food is very good. We have two chefs, Wendy and Gloria (Gloria's nickname is Sam). The ocean is more beautiful than I possibly could have imagined. Its colors change constantly ranging in a blue that is so dark it's almost black, to a light milky blue like the sky. Yes, we saw some dolphins swimming off the port bow! Laura: What does your room look like? Hi Laura! My room has four bunks in it, and since we are not at capacity I have the room all to myself! When you open the door, there are two sets of bunk beds on the right. There is a sink to the left. There are closets with latches, and another door on the right that leads to a bathroom with toilet and shower. Amrisha: Is your roommate nice? If not, how is she? Hi Amrisha! I have a private room, but Paquita and everyone on board is friendly. A graduate student, Virendra Ghate likes to keep us all laughing. Virendra (Vinnie) can say toungue twisters in spanish better than his Cuban friend! What I mean is he learned a spanish toungue twister. I taught him to say "Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers, If Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers, than how many Peppers did Peter Piper Pick?" He can say it faster than I can! Vinnie is from India, and he is teaching me to speak a little Hindi and Marathi. We are totally an international group here. It's fantastic! I've met people from: Australia, U.K., India, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Greece, Poland, Russia, and it goes on and on like that, all of us sharing the excitment of this learning adventure. Last night we watched a OO7 movie called "Die Another Day', popped popcorn, and played a game called Tabboo. It was a lot of fun. Brian: Did you see any sharks? Hi Brian! No, we haven't seen any sharks yet. However, we talked about them at breakfast this morning. The cook's son had a close encounter with one as he was surfboarding in Florida. It was coming at him, but he caught a wave just at the right time and got away from it. It followed him towards the shore though, and it was really scarey. I'm glad he wasn't hurt. Sean: Are you in the Bermuda Triangle? Hi Sean, Take a look at an Atlas and find the Island of Barbuda. We are on a line, sailing N.E. of that island. If I take the transit trip home, I will sail through a corner of the Bermuda triangle. Liz: When you sleep, do you sleep under or over the deck? Hi Liz, I'm in the best place! The bottom of boat close to the center where there is less rocking. The deck of the ship takes on water that splashes up on it from the waves. (Once in a while) I've been able to sit on the deck at the back of the boat to look out over the beautiful ocean. However there are times when suddenly a wave splashes up and I have to go change my shoes! Shihang: Does the ship's radars go crazy in the Bermuda Triangle? Hi Shihang! Alex: Are there any computers to play on? Hi Alex, There are MANY many computers on board, but none with games on them. The computers track the data flow, and much much more. That's all for now!
