Teacher At Sea Opportunity In Caribbean
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a scientist on a research vessel? Here is your opportunity to be able to work with real scientists on a 1-2 week research project beginning in the Caribbean on the Island of Antigua and cruising
across the Atlantic on a NOAA research vessel.
What? |
You will participate in a 15-20 day ship-based study on clouds and rain over the Caribbean
Sea. |
What is your job? |
- Develop curriculum components related to the cruise research that can be used in classrooms
- Keep a log of your research experience and what you are learning
- Communicate via Internet with students and teachers who ask questions during and after the cruise
- Connect with scientists on the cruise

When? |
Two research cruise opportunities are available:
Leg 1: Fort Pierce, FL to Antigua December 28, 2004 - January 15, 2005
Leg 2: Antigua to Ft. Pierce, FL (Preferred choice) January 16, 2005 - January 29, 2005

How? |
You must be a current K-12 science teacher willing to fulfill all of the above components of the
job. If you are interested, please download the application (PDF) and submit your application
by November 12, 2004. The application MUST have the approval and signature your principal.
This will be a competitive process with only 1 applicant and 1 alternate being chosen for the
experience. The trip is fully funded which includes all travel, food, lodging and substitute
teacher pay while on the cruise. |
