Supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) is gaining increasing importance as an environmentally benign and economically feasible alternative solvent for chemical synthesis [1]. The present talk will give an overview on recent research of our group on the use of scCO2 as reaction medium for chemical synthesis with transition metal catalysts. Guidelines for the development of new catalysts which are compatible with the special requirements of an application in scCO2 will be given. New work-up procedures utilizing scCO2 for catalyst recycling or immobilization will also be presented.
