Ware, Sylvia A. GREENING THE CURRICULUM: ACS EDUCATION PROGRAMS
American Chemical Society, 1155 Sixteenth Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20036 (s_ware@acs.org)

The Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the ACS Education and International Activities Division are involved in a cooperative agreement to develop instructional materials, provide workshop opportunities, and disseminate general information on green chemistry to faculty and students. The project is focussed on ways to introduce green chemistry to undergraduate and high school populations through development of new resources and adaptation of existing Division materials. Current Division networks are being used to disseminate information, especially to ACS undergraduate Student Affiliates. The Division is also engaged in a collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker to develop materials for higher level secondary school use. These materials will be available in both print form and on the Internet, in English and in German, for integration on a topic-by-topic basis into existing courses in all three countries.
