CIRES Members:

I am pleased to announce that CIRES is again presenting the Rendezvous, our fifth institute-wide symposium on Thursday, April 15, 2010. The CIRES Members' Council is planning this half-day of posters and presentations to familiarize you with the depth, breadth, and quality of the pacesetting science being done at CIRES. We hope to encourage collaborations that might result in new interdisciplinary research, and to facilitate connections among our many innovative scientists, science support staff and administrative staff.

Again this year the entire afternoon is devoted to posters, which is the most interesting and interactive way to present the variety of research at the institute. We are happy for you to present posters that may have been presented previously at AMS, AGU, ACS, or other meetings. Of course, you are free to develop a new poster or present new work. Please contact the Associate Director of your Division if you wish to have your poster included. We are hoping to include approximately 80 posters.

This year’s Rendezvous will be at the Millennium Harvest House Hotel, 1345 28th St. in Boulder. The Millennium is a short stroll along the creek path from Main and East Campus. Parking is free. The Rendezvous will begin at 12:00 p.m. (poster set-up starts at 11:00), and we plan to finish business by 4:00 p.m. After the catered lunch, a brief "State of the Institute" address will be given by me and our annual CIRES awards will be presented, featuring presentation of the Outstanding Performance Awards, administered by your CIRES Members' Council. After lunch, the first poster session will be on display, followed by a short break (beginning of happy hour), followed by the second poster session. Each poster presenter will be assigned to either the 2:00 or 3:00 o’clock session so that they have ample time to visit other posters.

Once again, I am looking forward to the CIRES Rendezvous. I encourage everyone at CIRES to attend for lunch and poster sessions.
