Webb1 NOAA Earth System Research Lab, Boulder, CO1; NOAA-CIRES Western Water Assessment (WWA)2, NOAA-University of Colorado Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences3,Colorado State Climatologist and Colorado State University4 The Colorado Climate Report is a synthesis of climate change science important for Colorado’s water supply during the next half-century. The report was commissioned by the Colorado Water Conservation Board in support of the water adaptation component of Governor Ritter’s Colorado Climate Action Plan It focuses on observed trends, modeling, and projections of temperatures, precipitation, snowmelt, and runoff. Water managers already face numerous challenges, and these challenges are magnified by the need to consider climate change. Therefore, there is an emerging need for vulnerability assessments, for adaptation planning, and for bringing climate change information into ongoing integrated resource planning efforts. |
