Science Rendezvous > Posters Na-DEMOF-Based 3-Frequency Doppler LIDAR for Study of Atmospheric Coupling from Lower to Upper Atmosphere and Small Scale Dynamics Wentao Huang(1), Xinzhao Chu(1), Johannes Wiig(1), Bo Tan(1), Chihoko Yamashita (1), Chiao-Yao She(2), Bifford P. Williams(3), and R. Michael Hardesty(4) (1)CIRES, (2)Colorado State University, (3)NWRA Colorado Research Associates, (4)NOAA ESRL We demonstrated reliable wind and temperature measurements in the altitude range of 10-45 km for the first time using a Na-DEMOF with a 3-frequency Na Doppler lidar. Combining with the measurements by the Na Doppler lidar in the MLT region, simultaneous wind and temperature profiling from the lower to the upper atmosphere can be achieved, which is very valuable for the research in atmospheric coupling such as the generation, propagation and breaking of gravity waves. High resolution measurements in the troposphere are also expected with improved design, which has good potential in the study of small scale dynamics. |
