CONTACTS (to come)

JAN 2005 USNC/URSI MEETING STUDENT TRAVEL SUPPORT

Deadline for Application was October 1, 2004.

2005 Student Financial Support

Travel support will be available to students from US institutions who attend the January 2005 USNC/URSI Meeting in Boulder and present an accepted paper as a first author. Students must have applied before the deadline of October 1 to receive support. In addition, their meeting registration fees will be waived. Preference will be given to graduate students, but undergraduates (who are involved or experienced enough to be a first author) can also apply.

Non-local students will have their airfares reimbursed (see guidelines below) and will receive a meal per diem of $30/day for up to four days, and they will be reimbursed for housing at the rate of triple-room occupancy in the local hotels (~$33/day/person for a maximum of five nights). In any case, the total travel reimbursement for each student will not exceed $590. Expenses above the limit should be covered by the student's research program. Additional expenses for family travel will not be reimbursed. Local students are considered to be those from Boulder, Ft. Collins, or within 56 miles of Boulder. Local students may apply for a mileage stipend only.

Students who receive financial support can bring a spouse and children, but will have to pay separately for their lodging at the hotel.

Students need to make their own airline and hotel arrangements, either through their institutions, through travel agents, or on-line at:

http://www.expedia.com
http://www.travelocity.com (register, but no charge)
http://www.orbitz.com (register, but no charge)
http://www.cheaptickets.com (register, but no charge)
http://www.lowestfare.com
http://www.ual.com (United Airlines, since Denver is a UA hub).

We recommend students get their tickets on-line to avoid the increasingly large processing fees.

Students further than 50 miles from their airport (100 miles round trip), can get $0.28/mile for their trips to the airport also. Shuttle costs between the Denver International Airport (DIA) and Longmont (or Boulder) are not reimbursed.

To be reimbursed for a flight, we need to have the name of the traveler, an itinerary with dates and locations, and the price of the ticket, including taxes and any listed processing fee.

Register as you would if you were not receiving support, and submit this receipt with the others for reimbursement after the meeting.
