2006 NATIONAL RADIO SCIENCE MEETING STUDENT TRAVEL SUPPORT Deadline for Application is September 18, 2005. Student Financial Support Application 2006 Student Travel Support Guidelines Travel support will be available to students from U.S. institutions (only) who attend the 2006 USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting in Boulder and present an accepted paper as a first author. Students must apply before the deadline of September 18, 2005, to receive support. Preference will be given to graduate students, but undergraduates (who are experienced enough to be a first author) may also apply. Non-local students will have their airfares reimbursed (see guidelines below), will receive a meal per diem of $30/day for up to four days, and will be reimbursed for housing at the rate of two-per-room occupancy in the local hotels (up to $36/day/person for a maximum of five nights). The total travel reimbursement for each student will not exceed $590. Expenses above the limit should be covered by the student's research program. Students who receive financial support may bring a spouse and children, but will have to pay separately for their lodging at the hotel. Additional expenses for family travel will not be reimbursed. Local students are considered to be those from Boulder, Ft. Collins, or within 56 miles of Boulder. They will be reimbursed $0.28/mile for each day they drive to/from the conference and are not eligible for any other reimbursement. Students need to make their own airline and hotel arrangements, either through their institutions, through travel agents, or online at: http://www.expedia.com
We recommend that students obtain their tickets online to avoid the increasingly large processing fees. To be reimbursed for a flight, we need a receipt with the name of the traveler, an itinerary with dates and locations, payment method, and the price of the ticket, including taxes and any listed processing fee. International travel will not be reimbursed under any circumstances. Students further than 50 miles from their home airport (100 miles round trip) can be reimbursed $0.28/mile for their trips to the airport as well. Shuttle costs between the Denver International Airport (DEN) and Boulder (or surrounding areas) will not be reimbursed. Register for the meeting as you normally would, and submit the registration receipt along with the other receipts for reimbursement after the meeting. |
