Protecting Your Computer
- Software to Install
- Reccomendations
- If you are running Windows 2000 - make sure there is a password on the computer. There have been several computers without this protection that have been hacked into and had ftp servers running in the background.
- Download the Microsoft AntiSpyware and have it running all the time (yes, in addition to Norton).
- Scan your computer regularly, weekly if possible, at least monthly.
- Make sure to always search for updates, yes, even right after you download the program.
- FYI: all of the scans are pretty quick, except for Housecall.
- Note that all of these programs are free (except Norton), and make sure to install the specific version (or possibly newer version of that edition) as these were recommneded to be the best at this time.
- If you cannot clean the system yourself (or don't want to) do not hesitate to call Bug Busters to make an appointment. They'll even come right to your office.
