About NOSB and the Regional Trout Bowl
The National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB®) is an academic competition that tests high school students’ knowledge of the marine sciences, including biology, chemistry, physics and geology.
The NOSB was created in 1998 (the Year of the Ocean) to support and expand ocean sciences education and enhance public understanding and stewardship of the oceans. CIRES Education and Outreach is proud to host the only land-locked regional competition in the country, featuring competing teams from Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, South Dakota and Kansas.
