CIRES Distinguished Lecture Series Presents Dr. Kerry Emanuel
On October 12, nationally-recognized atmospheric scientist Dr. Kerry Emanuel will discuss "intriguing enigmas" of the climate system and climate change, including the effects of hurricanes on high-latitude climates. Emmanuel will present "A Simple Model of Multiple Climate Regimes" at the CIRES Auditorium, 3rd floor of the CIRES Building on the CU Boulder campus from 4-5 pm. A reception will follow Emmanuel's talk.
Dr. Emanuel is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society, and he has an extensive list of publications to his credit. He currently teaches and conducts research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), a joint institute between NOAA

, brings Dr. Kerry Emanuel to Boulder as part of its 2001-02 Distinguished Lecture Series. CIRES promotes interdisciplinary research in socially relevant topics, such as the potential impacts of climate change, destruction of Earth's ozone, thinning of polar ice, degradation of air and water quality, and earthquake predication. CIRES fosters success by encouraging interaction of diverse intellectual viewpoints. The goal of the lecture series is to invite outstanding scientists who take unusual and imaginative positions on environmental issues. For more information, contact Kathy Zellers at 303-735-0196.
