Current Research

I'm a member of the Rapid Refresh (RAP) and High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model and data assimilation team at GSD, which develops and transitions these systems to operations.  I lead the science and development of a hybrid variational-ensemble cloud assimilation in GSI.  I'm also involed with the development of storm-scale ensemble data assimilation for the HRRR Ensemble (HRRRE).  I'm proud that I contribute to an analysis and forecast system that is used by NWS forecasters, the aviation industry, and for renewable energy applications.  I am passionate about extreme weather and enjoy chasing tornadoes, white water kayaking, snow skiing, mountian hiking, and dancing in the rain.
