INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE TOTAL STATION
- write a brief description of the area to be surveyed
- Find a reference point with a known elevation (not needed for some studies)
- set up the tripod
- make sure all legs are fimly in the ground
- try to level the tripod as much as possible
- make sure the top cover is off
- set up the theod
- screw theod to the top of the tripod
- level theod using bullšs eye bubble on the bottom by adjusting the tripod legs
- finish leveling by centering the second bubble level (right under the eyepiece) by moving the screws on the bottom of the tripod
- Turn on the theod, set up the reference info:
- SetHorizontal angle (HzO)to 000 000
- Set ppm to 60
NAVIGATING AROUND THE THEOD MENU
Press ON to turn on the theod
Press MENU to get to the Main
Menu.
Scroll up by DIST and scroll down through the Menu with REC.
Once the arrow on the screen is pointing on a menu item you want, press the
orange arrow that points to the right (DSP)
To take a measurement, press DIST while not in the MENU screen.You
should hear the laser working.
- Scroll up and down through the measurement screen by using DSP
- The screen will display Hz, V, slope distance, horizontal distance, height
difference, Coordinate difference Easting, and Coordinate difference Northing.
To name the point you have just measured, press MENU
- Scroll to SET PtNr by DST or REC and select it with
DSP
- Once
in SET PtNr you can scroll to select the number/letters you want to name your point with
- Press CONT to save the point name.
Measure your next point by pressing DIST.
Press OFF when you are done.
Disassemble everything carefully and put them in their correct cases!
