Gatekeeper
Instructions:
1) Your Job: You will decide whether or not each competitor passes through your assigned gates properly.
2) Correct Passage: The racer is said to have correctly passed through the gate when both the racer’s feet and ski tips have crossed (in either direction) through the imaginary line between the two gate poles. (See diagrams on back)
3) Recording a Fault: If a racer makes a fault on one of your gates, then do the following:
a) Record the bib number of racer. (Otherwise say : “did not see bib #, was between bib #23 and #26).
b) Gate number(s) where fault was committed followed by letter “F”
c) Make a sketch of the fault made by the racer, with a dotted line showing path through all of your gates.
4) If the racer has made an error or fallen and asks the gate judge what his/her status is, the gate judge must respond clearly and strongly to the racer in one of the following ways:
“GO!” if racer passed through the gate correctly
“BACK!” if racer did not pass through correctly
5)
Rerun information
a) If a racer is interfered with on course, he/she must stop at the site of interference if they want a rerun. The racer then proceeds off course to ask the finish ref for a rerun
