UPOExplorer

BASICS TUTORIAL SOURCE-CODE

UPOExplorer is designed to analyze data from Dynamical Systems (physical or mathematical). The idea behind the software is to analyze a slide on the Dynamical System's attractor (namely a Poincare Section) and to look for close returns. UPOExplorer is based on files generated by two programs: PointsFromFunction and PointsFromSerie.

The interface and all the algorithms were developed on IDL which is a High-Level data analysis language. Its syntax is very similar to Matlab. An evaluation version can be downloaded from www.rsinc.com.

  1. Main screen. In this area the points in the Poincare Section are dispalyed.
  2. Slider to control the period of the UPO.
  3. Text Boxes indicating threshold and threashold increment sizes.
  4. Slider to interactively change threshold value in the amount given by increment size.
  5. This button perform the clustering for a given number of groups choosen by the user.
  6. List of groups found.
  7. Trajectory plot starting from the mean value of the points in a given group.
  8. Recurrence Plot of the trajectory for the group.
  9. Fourier Spectrum of the trajectory for the group.
  10. Eigenvectors over the trajectory.
