At runtime Strato asks for following input:
| Read data from serial port or file (S/F) : | Specifies, whether data are recorded and processed using a serial input port or reprocessed from the raw data file. |
| Input Flight Name : | The standard flight name xxnnn contains two letters and three digits, using a code for the flight location as the first two letters. |
| Enter Flight Date (DD-MM-YYYY) : | The date of flight is used in the description file and the graphics files. This field is asked only during flight reprocessing. Example : The input for Oct 19, 01 is 19-10-2001 |
| Enter launch elevation (m) : | The launch elevation is required to calculate the balloon altitude over sea level. This field is only asked if a non standard flight code is used and the site description cannot be found. |
| Enter location of flight : | The location is stored in the description file and used in the graphics files. |
| Enter longitude of launch site : | The longitude and latitude of the launch site are required to calculate the solar angle during the flight. This information goes into a radiation correction for the temperature. |
| Enter latitude of launch site : | |
| Enter WMO station number of launch site : | The WMO station ID can be entered here. This must correspond to the station ID that is registered at WMO. Ask the station manager for information if this is unkown. |
| Time zone : | The time in the raw data file is read from the computer clock, which should be set to GMT. The description file calculates the local time from this input. West of Greenwich the time zones are negative, east the time zones are positive. |
| Enter surface pressure (hPa) : | The surface conditions are only asked during reprocessing to keep track of them. They do not enter processing routines. |
| Enter surface temperature (deg C) : | |
| Enter surface humidity (%) : | |
| Enter instrument type : | Specifies the configuration of the balloon payload.
Ozone sonde = 1 Water-vapor sonde = 2 Water-ozone sonde = 3 |
| Hygrometer number : | The serial number of the frost point instrument. CFH sondes must have the serial number preceded by 1L or 2l, e.g. 1L0215 or 2L2021. |
| CFH detector signal (V): | The detector signal that was measured after mirror cleaning should be entered here. It should correspond to the same field in cfh.setup. |
| Specular (V): | The specular voltage signal that was measured during mirror cleaning should be entered here. It should correspond to the same field in cfh.setup and referes to the hgiher voltage representing the clear mirror signal without reference. |
| AD630 offset (V): | The AD630 offset correction that was measured in production should be entered here. It should correspond to the same field in cfh settings output. |
| Ozone sonde number : | The ozone sonde serial number must match the serial number in the PUMP.DAT if calibrated pumps are used. |
| Ozone flow rate time : | The time to pump 100 cc measured during checkout. |
| Lab temperature for flow rate measurement : | The temperature of the lab at the time of the flow rate measurement. |
| Lab humidity for flow rate measurement : | The humidity of the lab at the time of the flow rate measurement. |
| Measured flow rate correction (%): | The flow rate correction factor between lab and moist air. |
| Response time from 4 to 1.5 µA (sec) : | Time for the drop in ozone current from 4 to 1.5 µA after the ozone exposure during checkout. |
| Prep background #1(µA) : | The ozone background current before ozone conditioning. |
| Ozone background (hex) : | For TMAX sondes: The background used for the sounding data analysis. This number is determined during prelaunch checkout and corresponds to the hex number in the y channel when a steady background has been reached. |
| Ozone background (ua) : | For V2D and Intermet sondes: The background used for the sounding data analysis. This number is determined during prelaunch checkout and corresponds to the microamp current of the cell when a steady background has been reached. |
| Vaisala serial number : | For Vaisala radiosondes, Strato will ask in flight recording mode for the Vaisala serial number. It must correspond to the existing Vaisala RS80 calibration file. Wrong entries will lead to the use of a wrong calibration file. |
| Intermet serial number : | For Intermet radiosondes, Strato will ask for the serial number. The correct serial number should be entered, but the number does not refer to a calibration file and an incorrect number will only lead to incorrect meta data, not to an incorrect calibration. |
| Values correct : | If any value above was entered incorrectly, answering no will return to the beginning of the input questionnaire. All entries are remembered and only need to be confirmed by enter. Alternatively the incorrect value can be corrected at the proper time. |
