Research Interests

Education

  • PhD in Atmospheric Physics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (2017)
  • BSc in Physics at Towson University (2011)

Experience

  • NOAA Environmental Modeling Center (EMC): 2017-2021
    • Model evaluation
    • Boundary layer and microphysics development
    • Regional and global modeling
  • NOAA Chemical Sciences Laboratory (CSL): 2021-present
    • Fire dynamics research
    • Coastal meteorology and air quality research

Other Scientific Interests

  • General problems in fluid dynamics spanning micrometeorological and climate scales
  • Addressing "subgrid" dynamics from observations to improve model representation, particularly as it relates to boundary layer dynamics and atmospheric gravity waves
  • Characterization of wake effects for wind energy applications
  • Quantitative studies and research linking the role of dynamics on air quality evolution

Current Research

Research

  • Application of remote sensing and in-situ instruments within stationary and moving frames of reference to address pressing air quality and boundary layer dynamics in complex environments where numerical weather prediction struggles

Current Topics

  • Fire dynamics research using dynamics and chemistry observations from airborne and truckborne platforms
  • Coastal dyanmics and air quality research using stationary and mobile systems to characterize broader meteorological influence on chemical evolution as well as micrometeorological influences from boundary layer transitions.

About CECA

CECA connects and creates a supportive environment for graduate students and postdocs who come from various academic units to do research in CIRES.
