Research Interests

Brigitta is a scientific communications specialist at CIRES with expertise in science writing, social media, web content management, internal communications, and data analytics. She is passionate about making science more accessible through storytelling, and she loves harnessing data to support strategic planning and decision-making.

Her work is informed by over 10 years of experience in multiple environmental and Earth science-related fields, including science communication, informal education, climate research, and environmental consulting.

Previously, she was the program manager for the CIRES Center for Education, Engagement, and Evaluation-led We are Water project, which inspires conversations and learning about water in rural and Tribal communities through a traveling exhibit and hands-on, community-based educational programming. In 2023, the We are Water team received a CO-LABS Governor's Award for High-Impact Research for "inspiring change and awareness in the Desert Southwest."

Brigitta earned a PhD from the University of Colorado Boulder, where she studied geological sciences, paleoclimate, and paleoceanography, and a BSc in geology and geography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
