Current Research

As a hydrologist with the Western Water Assessment, Nels researches a wide range of natural hazards, including drought, wildfire, flooding and extreme heat, across the western United States and how those hazards directly impact communities. The goal of his research is to understand how the best available science can be used to inform community resilience building efforts.
