Research Interests

I am a weather and computer science enthusiast who previously performed research related to deep, moist convection and tornadic storms and who currently works within NOAA/Global Systems Laboratory to improve our regional forecast modeling systems. I also consider myself an amateur endurance athlete and enjoy running, hiking, and cycling.

Current Research

My current research focuses primarily on investigating the impact of assimilating observations from Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) on near-operational, regional Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) systems. This work follows the Observing System Simulation Experiment (OSSE) framework where a simulation is used to represent the "true" atmosphere and synthetic observations are generated from this "truth" simulation. I also spend some time evaluating how clouds are represented in convective-allowing ensemble NWP systems and how we can improve data assimilation of cloud-related fields, such as cloud cover from ceilometers.
