CIRES is home to four centers, which represent historic and current research foci. Our centers foster collaboration, facilitating partnerships between federal and academic entities. They also provide an identity and organizational structure for some of CIRES’ major research areas
Center for Limnology

The Center for Limnology at CIRES is to promote research and teaching related to inland aquatic ecosystems, including lakes, streams, and wetlands.

Center for Science & Technology Policy Research

To serve as a resource for science and technology decision makers and those providing the education of future decision makers.

Earth Science and Observation Center

Advancing scientific and societal understanding of the Earth System based on innovative remote sensing research.

National Snow and Ice Data Center

NSIDC manages and distributes scientific data, creates tools for data access, supports data users, performs scientific research, and educates the public about the cryosphere.

 

North Central Climate Adaptation Science Center

Generating the science to help resource managers in the North Central region adapt to a changing world.
