Bouncing Forward from the Marshall Fire Workshop: Strategies to Support Mental Health in Teaching Climate Science Curriculum

Calling teachers in the Boulder Valley School District: the HEART Force Program (NOAA supported project run out of CIRES Education & Outreach) and the Earth Force Program (FEMA-funded) are offering professional learning to support educators and their students that are impacted by climate-related natural hazards, such as the Marshall Fire.

  • The curriculum is modular and flexible.
  • Selected lessons will support teachers and students in identifying and building community action projects and learn about natural hazards.
  • Trauma-informed strategies to integrate into natural hazard curriculum or social-emotional learning for first-time attendees.
  • This session includes a planning session for teachers who have already attended the previous training and for first-time attendees.

Teachers from Boulder Valley School District are eligible to receive a stipend for attending. In-person and virtual attendees are welcome.

If you are interested in attending, please email erin.greenwood@bvsd.org or alicia.christensen@colorado.edu .
