Introduction to the RISE Challenge

Introduction to the RISE Challenge

Join us for the second installment of the Natural Hazards Resilience Teacher Professional Development Series brought to you by the HEART Force program and the Earth Force RISE Challenge

This session, hosted by Earth Force program manager Justin Zakoren, will introduce teachers to the RISE Challenge. The RISE Challenge is open to Colorado educators and students, grades 5 – 10. Guided by the Earth Force Community Action & Problem-Solving Process, participants learn about the natural hazards impacting their communities, select an issue to focus on, conduct in-depth research and engage community stakeholders, define a strategy for addressing their natural hazard issue, and present it in an action plan proposal.

HEART Force teachers are welcome to participate in the RISE Challenge; the Earth Force program provides a pedagogical framework and classroom tools that compliment HEART Force curriculum.

Certificates for teacher professional development contact hours will be available for participants upon request.

If you have any questions, please email katya.schloesser@colorado.edu.
