In the final lesson of the Lake County Cascading Hazards unit, students come up with their own ideas on how to increase community resilience to natural hazards.

Description

In this lesson, students will:

Part 1 – (10 minutes) Brainstorm

As a class, come up with a giant list of ways students can prepare for, mitigate risk, or help their neighbors prepare for a hazard. 

Part 2 – (35 minutes) Take Action Social Media Post

In small groups, students put together a short social media story or video to show how to take steps to prepare for a natural hazard.  

Part 3 – (5 minutes) Gallery Walk

Students walk around the room to see each other’s storyboards.
