Current Research

I investigate the resilience and recovery of forested ecosystems in the western United States following disturbances such as wildfires, pest outbreaks, and drought. To accomplish this goal I integrate remotely sensed data from unoccupied aerial systems (UAS, or drones), airplanes, and satellites with field data and observations. Our team also integrates social, ecological, and environmental datasets to better understand wildfire as a coupled socioenvironmental phenomenon.
