Please join the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences for their first Colloquium of the Fall semester on Friday, September 6 from 11:00 AM–12:00 PM, which will be held in SEEC C120. This colloquium features Mike Nelson (ABC7 Denver). Please join us for conversation beginning at 10:45 AM and stay for a catered lunch afterward. This week’s colloquium is co-sponsored by the CU Boulder Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society.
The climate emergency: science and solutions
Mike Nelson has been a television weather forecaster for 40 years, including 25 years in Colorado. He is currently the Chief Meteorologist at ABC Denver 7. Mike received his degree in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and was influential in developing one of the first computer weather graphics systems for television. He has won 18 Emmy awards for Outstanding Weather Anchor. As part of this seminar, Mike will share insights from his 40 years in the weather forecasting industry and look ahead at the societal challenges posed by climate change.
