We are changing the RUNdezvous 5K run this year because CU Boulder charges a fee to rent the campus course. Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) granted permission for us to use the paths behind NOAA for free, so we are going to do a trail event this year. The event is open to the first 99 CIRES employees who sign up.

    • What: Adventure walk/run on the trails behind NOAA.
      • The course has significant elevation gain and beautiful views. The full route is around 3.25 miles, but you can also do a shorter, 2.2-mile version.
        • Note: You can walk or run either course.
    • When: 9 - 11 am Thursday, May 15
      • Rendezvous starts that afternoon at 1 pm.
    • Where: Skunk Canyon, Mesa, and Kohler Mesa trails
    • Why: Because 2025 needs a few more challenges! Also, winners get bragging rights at Rendezvous.
      • Katie Smith (CSL) and Shawn Murdzek (GSL) are the reigning champs, so we’ll see if they hang on to their title.

    To sign up:

    1. Register by signing the waiver.
    2. Help us figure out your wave. OSMP has requested participants start in waves of up to 16 people.
    • If you plan to mostly run the event and do the full course, reply to this email with your Bolder Boulder wave if you’re running this year or ran last year. If you don’t know your Bolder Boulder wave, reply with an estimate of your per-mile pace for a 5 or 10K on flat terrain.
    • If you plan to mostly walk the event, just sign the waiver. You will automatically be placed with participants from your group or lab. You can select either the full or shorter course.

Volunteers: We need volunteers to direct people along the course, watch belongings, and record times at the finish. Contact Meg Tilton.
