Earth Lab invites you to a free Spatial Data using Open Source Python libraries workshop on July 20th from 9am-12:30pm in SEEC S372. In this workshop, you will learn:
-How to open, plot and manipulate vector data in Python using Geopandas
-How to open, plot and manipulate raster data in Python using Rasterio
-How to use Jupyter Notebooks to write code in Python
REQUIREMENTS: You will get the most out of this workshop if you have some experience using Python. Specifically you should know how to load packages and work with a numpy array. Experience with pandas is also helpful but not required. If you have experience with other programming languages such as R you may also be OK for this workshop!
The workshop will be led by Dr. Leah Wasser (Director of Earth Analytics Education), Dr. Jenny Palomino (Earth Analytics Course Developer & Instructor), and Joseph McGlinchy (Remote Sensing Scientist).
To register please RSVP using this form - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1GdUMoZL1PJWtLm3P0x53OA_iBZoRUNPN6safSwx... - by noon on Wednesday 7/18. You will receive an email prior to the workshop confirming your acceptance. The workshop is open to all CU Boulder students, faculty and staff so please feel free to distribute this invitation to your colleagues.
Please RSVP only if you are certain that you will attend and can stay for the entire time. If you RSVP and can no longer attend, please email earth.lab@colorado.edu. We invest significant time preparing for these events, and as our workshops tend to fill up, your cooperation with this policy allows us to reach the maximum number of students.
