Below is a message from CIRES Director Waleed Abdalati to the federal colleagues and collaborators with whom CIRES partners. 

Dear friends, colleagues, and collaborators, 

We, like much of the country, have watched with tremendous dismay the termination of federal employees who provide extremely valuable and exceptional service to our nation and broader societal interests. 

In particular, to our colleagues at NOAA, we want to express our deepest appreciation for your service in support of our shared mission – a mission that ultimately protects lives and property. While the value of what you do may not be obvious to some, it benefits all. Your work is so important, and it is a true privilege being on the same team as you. We at CIRES are here to support you in whatever ways we can during this transitional time, and we look forward to your continued success as you move forward. 

Again, we recognize and appreciate your service to the nation and the world by advancing critical science, helping people understand the world around them, and benefitting communities in countless ways.
