Ash Gilbert
ATOC Graduate Student

- B.S.E. in Climate and Meteorology with minors in Computer Science and Latin, University of Michigan, 2022
- PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, University of Colorado Boulder, expected 2027
Research Interests
Ash is a third-year PhD Candidate in Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences advised by Dr. Jennifer Kay. They received their Bachelors in Climate & Meteorology with minors in Latin and Computer Science from the University of Michigan. Ash is also an NSF Graduate Research Fellow.
Current Research
My research focuses on Arctic climate change attribution, more specifically parsing contributions of internal climate variability and anthropogenic emissions. I use nudging in climate models to determine the contribution of observed winds and mean state sea ice changes to recent Arctic warming and sea ice loss.
