Emmaline Longnecker
PhD Candidate
Research Interests
Emmy is a third year PhD candidate in atmospheric chemistry working with Dr. Paul Ziemann. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Smith College and when she isn’t working in the lab she likes to hike and cook for friends.
Current Research
Emmy’s research focuses on air quality and the impacts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as they condense and interact with surfaces and particulate matter. Her work has included modeling, studies of indoor environments, and will now expand to outdoor secondary organic aerosol formation in the Denver/Front Range region.
2024 Graduate Student Research Award topic: Seasonal field and laboratory study of the impact of urban air pollution on organic aerosol chemistry in Denver/Foothills region
