Research Interests
Matthew Savoie is an experienced software engineer with over 2 decades of experience at NSIDC. He uses modern agile development practices including, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework), functional design, testing, continuous integration to build secure, resilient, elastic software that is easy to maintain and offers flexibility to accommodate future changes.
Savoie develops software for scientific inquiry, data processing, and data visualization with expertise in cloud data access services. His scientific background allows him to aid researchers by lowering the barrier to entry for using big data in the cloud, specifically helping them bring their algorithms to the data in order to answer the next generation of climate questions. He is an expert in passive microwave sea ice processing, distribution and visualization, mentorship and supervision.
