Research Interests
R. Michael Jones received his b.s. in physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1959 and his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Colorado in 1968.
He performed research at the U.S. Department of Commerce from 1961 through 1993, first for the National Bureau of Standards and later for NOAA. He is now with CIRES (Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences) of the University of Colorado.
His fields of research have covered ionospheric radio wave propagation, diffraction, internal wave dynamics, acoustic-gravity wave propagation in the ocean and atmosphere, ocean acoustic tomography, and limits of predictability in fluids. More details are in the vita.
