Austin Coleman: For aiding the HMT team by volunteering to be either a Weather Prediction Center (WPC) Forecaster or DTB Helper for more than one of the experiments held from summer of 2024 to spring of 2025.

Dana Tobin: For upgrading the entire Winter Storm Severity Index (WSSI) coding structure to an extremely efficient and scientifically correct system.

Erica Bower: For volunteering their time to supervise Lapenta interns and educating the next generation of scientists

James Correia Jr:

  • For excellent work leading Precipitation Extremes from Atmospheric Rivers (PEAR), Winter Weather Experiment (WWE), and Flash Flood and Intense Rainfall (FFAIR) throughout the year. Not only do these experiments allow for improved partnerships and collaboration between WPC and our partners, but also improves WPC FOB understanding of new forecast tools, including AI models.
  • For conducting 3 seminar series, 4 experiments, organizing 3 focus groups, and contributing in unique ways to the Rapid Refresh Forecast System (RRFS), Atmospheric River Analysis and Forecast System (AR-AFS), MPAS, and funded project science developments over the last year. They have built, managed, and maintained numerous open web resources, data flows, and unique data viewers that indirectly support WPCs mission.
