Working at CIRES
Boulder, Colorado, regularly appears on lists of top places to live and work in the US, for good reason! Nestled between the Rocky Mountains and the city of Denver, with 300 days of sunshine, 300 miles of bikeway, and 100,000 acres of public recreation space, there is something for everyone.
CIRES employees receive a comprehensive benefits package from CU Boulder that includes health insurance, personal leave, retirement saving plans, wellness programs, tuition assistance programs, and more.
Many of our employees live in Boulder or in one of the many nearby communities in the Colorado Front Range: Louisville, Lafayette, Longmont, Erie, Golden, Denver, and elsewhere. An expansive public transit system connects Boulder to these communities, and to Denver International Airport. CU Boulder provides a free bus pass to qualifying employees. Nearby school districts include the Boulder Valley School District, the St Vrain Valley School District, and the Jefferson County School District.
Some CIRES employees may be eligible to live in CU Boulder Graduate and Family Housing, which provides affordable housing options for individuals and families. In addition to the competitive rental rates, our employees value the tight-knit community and family support that this program provides. Note that a maximum duration of residency may apply depending on position (postdoc, faculty, etc).
CIRES and CU Boulder provide opportunities for personal and professional growth including diversity, equity and inclusion programs, tuition assistance for classes, access to recreational facilities, opportunities for outreach and civic engagement, and much more.
